“It’s a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don’t quit when you’re tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired” – Fausto Coppi, two time Tour De France winner. Whilst the Tasker Christmas Cycle event won’t be as intense as the Tour de France, you can bet your bottom dollar our Executive Team will be wrestling their own gorillas on December 3rd as they attempt to cycle 206 miles, the distance between our London and Manchester office to raise money for our charity partner – Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales.
In the meetings that have gone into planning this festive event, there has been a lot of big talk. As you can imagine you would get with any Executive Team. But when the curtain is drawn, and they are left to cycle, they may have to check their egos at the door.
‘I can assure you we will be going quicker than 12mph, I run at 8mph… And I’m not even fast’ stated CEO Robert Organ
‘We can comfortably do around 26km per hour’ was the message from Group Markets Director Barry Reynolds
Whilst Chief Underwriting Office, Robert Munden is preparing his white flag already stating “I think we could potentially do with 2 more people”
Newly appointed COO Graeme Lalley is already dialled in and focused, merely commenting “pumped” in response to his excitement behind the event.
Fighting talk is rife across the Exec Team, and if you would like to watch them crumble, or maybe they will surprise us all and smash the challenge. Then come along to Beaufort House on the evening of 3rd December for food and drinks to watch our ‘Big Talkers’ try and complete Le Tour de Tasker.
