What Is Activity Leisure Insurance?

As you have probably experienced, arranging insurance as a business in the activity leisure sector can be difficult, costly and time consuming.

This is where we can help. We take pride in obtaining competitive and comprehensive policies for our clients, regardless of the activities they offer.

We see that Public and Employers Liability is a main concern but cover for equipment and stock can be equally as important. Combined Policies also offer covers such as Business Interruption and Commercial Legal Expenses, we can guide you through these.

Regarding other separate policies, Directors & Officers or Cyber for Example, we can advise you on the exposures your business faces and the covers available to protect you against the financial impact these can have.

Paintball, Airsoft and Laser Tag Sites

Insurers not familiar with this industry can be hesitant to provide cover due to these ‘shooting’ activities, yet for most businesses in the sector claims arise from slips and trips. In fact, it is rare to see a claim resulting from the ‘shooting’ itself.

We work with insurers that understand this and will not waste your time by asking for quotes from insurers that hold this misunderstanding.

We also bear in mind that equipment is likely to be stored on site, sometimes in Metal Shipping Containers. This is no issue, we can help you to cover this within the policy also.

Outdoor Activity Centres

Many insurers avoid covering these businesses altogether and some insurers offer policies that are just not practical. One main issue we see is insurers picking and choosing which of the activities they will cover, 4×4 Driving is acceptable but Axe Throwing is not, for example.

We will only arrange policies which will help to provide cover for all of your business activities. We also understand that you may offer a range of activities, including some which may at first at first glance seem quite risky. This does not phase us.

We will take time to understand each of the activities you offer. We will also look at the Risk Assessments you have carried out to identify risks, the precautions you have put in place to stop accidents from occurring, and other supporting Health and Safety Documents such as incident logbooks. We will then present these to insurers to show your business in the best light and give you the best chance of securing a competitive quotation.

Skate-Parks, Trampoline-Parks and Rinks

Because of the level of hazardous activities and the average age of the participants, some insurers deem these venues as too dangerous and will not insure them.

We work with a number of insurers that have a more accurate view of the extent of danger presented by these activities, which are happy to provide cover.

Our policies can include cover for scooters, roller/ice skates, BMX bikes or equivalent as standard.

Additional activities such as fitness classes, mini skate classes and trampoline volley-ball do not present any significant concerns and we will discuss how to cover these.

We can also arrange cover for temporary/mobile operations such as Christmas Ice Rinks.

Marquee, Inflatables and Event Equipment Hirers

Supplying equipment to events comes with the risk of relying on your client to use, secure and store the items correctly.

For example, Marquees need to be properly secured, supervised and operated in accordance to industry standards to prevent damage. Injuries incurred whilst using a bouncy castle or photo booth may lead to clients holding your responsible as the hirer.

Our staff are able to advice on your exposures and ensure that you are protected from incidents such as these.

Soft Play Centres

Some insurers are hesitant to provide cover for soft play centres due to the concern of young children being allowed to run riot, at height, down slides etc. As specialist in this field, we at Taskers know this cannot be further form the truth.

The specialised manufacture, installation and use of dedicated play equipment paired with regular inspections and risk assessments show that soft play centres are as safe as other leisure venues.

This is how we will present your case to insurer, although please bear in mind we work with a few insurer that are familiar and comfortable with this industry, so this short be a short and pain free process.
